Crypto Position Size Calculator with Stop Loss
Estimate a linear position from your risk budget, entry, stop and costs. Separate notional size, margin and potential loss.
Risk budget, position size and leverage are different
Quantity = risk budget / scenario loss per unit. Unit loss includes the move to the assumed exit plus entry and exit fees. Long assumed exit = stop minus slippage; short = stop plus slippage. Notional = quantity × entry; simplified margin = notional / leverage.
Example: risk 100, entry 100, stop 95, fee 0.1% each side, zero slippage: loss per unit 5.195, quantity about 19.2493, notional 1924.93; margin at 2× about 962.46. Changing to 5× does not reduce the scenario loss of 100. Round quantity down to the platform lot step; recheck minimum orders, margin, funding and liquidation rules.
Excludes funding, borrowing, taxes, risk tiers and liquidation price. Liquidation may precede the stop. Output is neither an executable order size nor a maximum loss.
