What is FIFO cost basis?

FIFO (first-in, first-out) assumes you sell your oldest coins first. It runs separately for each coin: every asset keeps its own lot queue, and each sell consumes that coin's oldest lots. Gain = proceeds − cost of consumed lots. It is the default method in many jurisdictions.
